My friend Jordan Raine is talented when it comes to music. He can play guitar as well as a number of other instruments with amazing precision. He also has a natural talent for writing music. Yesterday Josh and I got the chance to go into Vancouver and see a piece of music he composed be performed by some professional musicians. It was written for cello, flute and piano and it was outstanding.
Since we were going to Vancouver for the night we decided to just leave early and make a day of it. We headed to American Apparel where Josh bought me a wonderful light zip-up hoodie for the upcoming summer. Our friends (Truman, Derrick, Sam and Jordan) bought a number of goodies as well. Afterwards we headed to Urban Outfitters and then to Chapters. My main goal was to get to Chapters so I could get the book "America: The Book" by Jon Stewart along with "Cash" by Johnny Cash.
It turns out that going into Vancouver without a set plan of what to do is a bad idea. Originally Josh and I were going to go to Stanley Park but our group grew and became more reckless and adventuresome so it was difficult to agree on one idea and we ended up just going to Pacific Center and looking around.
In Pacific Center there is a "Bose" electronics store which the boys just had to go in to. Once in, the most typically Asian salesman decided to sell us each a $4500 sound system. He shuffled us into a miniature theater where we watched a short film about the Bose sound system. Half way through this little Asian man entered the room and started interacting with the film. It was one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. After the movie he told us that we must be wondering what this system would be like in our living rooms so we have to follow him! We were quickly ushered into a fake living room where we had to hear about the wonders of the Bose. I have to say we were all quite impressed and if any of us had an extra $4500 it would've been spent on a Bose. Unfortunately we are all college students and ended up just getting a free pen out of the deal.
That was my day in Vancouver. I'll post pictures when Jordan sends them to me. I have to go get ready for work now. Bye!
